Knowing an unprecedented boom in many European countries, large scale solar thermal systems can meet most of domestic hot water and space heating needs of the community

Solar district heating

Solar thermal technologies are a major driver of the energy transition in urban areas through the supply of centralized heating networks. They represent a competitive and efficient substitute to limit fossil fuels use and meet customer’s heat demand.

Solar thermal technologies provide a high visibility over heat generation costs during the system life cycle and allow its operators to store the energy for day to night or day to day uses. Furthermore, it can be implemented in district heating network in combination with other renewable technologies.

European institutions, governments and local administrations actively support solar district heating, which is seen as a source of local and clean thermal energy, which stabilizes heat supply costs for end-users and communities.
